Purchase Licenses

Two different license types are available for nanoXplorer IDE to help your organization meet its needs most efficiently: network licenses and node licenses.

License Types - Node and Network

Network Licenses

Purchasing one network license (also known as a floating license) enables one user to be running nanoXplorer IDE anywhere on your network at a single time. Each additional network license purchased raises the limit of the number of users that can be active simultaneously. The network is defined by you, so you can scope it down to a lab or even just a couple of computers, or you can designate an entire campus or corporate LAN/WAN. Network licenses provide great flexibility for organizations to support tens or hundreds of users without having to buy a license for every computer where the software might be used. Instead, purchase the number of network licenses equal to the maximum number of simultaneous users that you think you will have to support (don't worry, you can easily add more later if you need them).

Example: As the new head of the Nanotech Department of Convergence Univerity, some of your professors have requested the nanoXplorer IDE application to help their students gain hands on experience with nanodevice design. One professor intends to use nanoXplorer IDE in a lab setting with each student (20 in her class) having the software running on a workstation as they collectively work through some molecular design and simulation problems. To support this professor and additional expected campus use of the application in dorms and elsewhere you decide to purchase 25 network licenses (with the academic and volume discounts).

  • Flexible - supports simultaneous use anywhere on your network (which you define) up to the number of network licenses purchased
  • Easy to use - no license server installation required... nanoXplorer IDE communicates with a dedicated license server maintained by nanoTITAN on the Internet
  • Fault tolerant - if there is an error communicating with our license server, previously validated users will still be permitted to use the application for a number of days
  • Secure - includes protections against abuse and configurable security measures to make sure your licenses are available when you need them
  • Forgiving- a limited overdraft feature warns when you've run out of network licenses but still allows application use

Node Licenses

A node license enables use of nanoXplorer IDE only on the computer from which the license is activated. Any number of users on that computer can use the application (though not simultaneously, of course, since only one user can be active on a computer at one time). Though less flexible than network licenses, node licenses have the advantage of being less expensive and adequate for small groups of users or individuals who are satisfied with having one or a small number of nanoXplorer IDE enabled workstations.

Example: As leader of a 5 person nanoengineering lab you have many needs and a tight budget. While purchasing one or two network licenses would be ideal you finally settle on purchasing a single node license for nanoXplorer IDE and installing the software on a single computer. Your engineers will have to share the use of the software but with a little creative scheduling it shouldn't be too much of a problem. The money you save makes that next-generation atomic force microscope you've had your eye on more of a possibility.

  • Less expensive - about one third less than network licenses
  • Portable - if you want to move your license to a new computer you can deactivate your current node license and then activate it on the new machine
  • Multi-user - enables all users with an account on a workstation to run nanoXplorer IDE
  • Off-line - users without an Internet connection cannot use network licenses, but a node license will work with or without an Internet connection
