Sticky Fingers

A term popularized by Dr. Richard E. Smalley, in his rebuttal arguments to Dr. K. Eric Drexler's assertion that molecular assemblers could be developed, and in some instances pose a threat to humanity.  Concisely defined, sticky fingers posits one of the problems faced in selecting and positioning of atoms to create a nanodevice by an automonous assembler.
