Convergence

In nanoscience and technology, convergence is commonly referred to the fusion or integration of nanotechnology, biotechnology and emerging advanced information technology.  Presently, progress is being made in the nanobiotechnology and biotechnology convergence, described in the 2003 essay by Dr. Mihail C. Roco, of the National Science Foundation.

NASA also has been involved in investigating the convergence of nano, bio, and info technologies and its perspectives can be read in: "Convergence of Biotechnology, Information Technology and Nanotechnology: A NASA perspective:

The full report may be read here.

Additionally, Nano-Bio-Info Convergence enterprises are begining to emerge as the science progresses.  An overview example of these efforts may be reviewed in the Silicon Valley Online publication: "Nano-Bio-Info Convergence".

Investigative and research efforts in the science and technology challenges of Nano-Bio-Info Convergence is being undertaken at the Environmental Protection Agency, and these efforts were recently presented at a work shop relative this subject: "Nanotechnology, Biotechnology, and Information Technology:  Implcation for Future Science at EPA A Workshop of the EPA Science Advisory Board"
A summary of the workshop may be read here.
